Some people want to know how many Surahs (سورتیں) or Chapters are in the Holy Quran. So, for your information, there are One Hundred Fourteen (114) Surahs (Chapters or Lessons) in the Holy Quran. Some of them are very long, and some are very short. In the Holy Quran, except Surah At-Tawbah (سورۃ التوبۃ), every Surah begins with the recitation of Bismillah (أَعُوذُ بِاللَّـهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ- بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ).

While some Surahs are short, but very deep and comprehensive in terms of meaning. Each Surah of the Holy Quran invites man to the oneness of Allah, faith, morality and righteous deeds. Except for Surah At-Tawbah, every Surah begins with “Bismillah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim”, which is an expression of divine mercy and a symbol of the Quran’s message of love and guidance.
